About the event
Susana Balbo Wines is one of Argentina’s most important family wineries, founded in Mendoza in 1999 by pioneering winemaker Susana Balbo. A descendant of the Italian diaspora that helped shape modern Argentina, Susana grew up in a traditional Italian family and became Argentina’s first female enologist in 1981. She went on to become one of the country’s most influential winemakers, helping elevate both Torrontés and the international reputation of Mendoza. Today, the winery remains very much a family affair, with her children José and Anna helping carry the estate into its next generation.
We rarely venture outside Italy for our tastings, but Susana Balbo is a fitting exception. Argentina is home to one of the world’s largest Italian diasporas, and Italian families have played an enormous role in the country’s food, wine and agricultural traditions.
